Wild Imagination (Micro-fiction)

The darkness swept over me like the ginormous wings of an unearthly creature, waiting indolently to pounce upon its prey. Ghosts chiseled out from my own fanciful flights of imagination lurked in the corners of every obsidian shadow. Every rippling curtain was a spectre, and every creaking sound that my footsteps made was a long-drawn wail of a woman. Bitterly, I cursed the lease I had given to my own wandering thoughts.
