Twin Hearts (Micro-fiction)

Beseeched by despair, and utter loneliness when I retired to my bunk that night, she was there. A shimmering apparition with her usual charm, and sprightly flavour.

She glided towards me, patiently searching for the daily nightmares haunting my sleep, and corked them shut. She stretched the canvas taut over them, forever restraining them.

A smile unfurled. She scoured the air for happy dreams.

That night, I went to sleep with twin hearts beating in my chest, and a satisfied grin.
