Scurrying Off (Micro-fiction)

In the hustle and bustle of the busy city life, where people are washing themselves awake with their morning cups of coffee and tea, somewhere, someone is already awake.

In the remoter areas of urban decay, where the earth is still damp–fresh with the first spell of rain, the little squirrel skitters off doffing his hat to me.

Busy day, eh?

Good day to you, too, my dear sir, I say.
